The Home of Guiding Hands facilities are residential homes where adults with developmental disabilities live under the care and supervision of nurses. The SDSU students give oral hygiene presentations, help the residents brush and floss their teeth, and donate supplies during their routine visits. These trips are not simply about teaching oral hygiene, but learning to help those in the community with special needs. The residents are always eager to see us; some remember us from previous trips and tell us how much their brushing has improved! The residents always feel a sense of accomplishment when they can improve their oral health.
